A message to the world. Collaboration with Hannah Simone, Stefania Woznarowycz and Jacob Chabeaux
We based our animation on the Greek myth of Atlas, who can no longer take the weight of the world. We wanted to introduce other topics that we thought were destroying this planet, topics like Pollution, sustainability etc. We created a sound track, recording people’s last messages to the world and integrating it with the visuals so it communicated that Atlas was crumbling under the weight of the world.
There are so many awesome movies out there and it was hard to pick but I went and saw The Hunger Games a few weeks ago and it was just amazing! I loved the concept of the story, Sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen volunteers in her younger sister’s place to enter the games. This annual event takes places as punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol in which a 13th district was destroyed. (twisted punishment ) Two people from each of the 12 districts are picked one girl and one boy. They get picked to compete in a televised battle where only one person survives at the end of the battle.
A quote from the film “Hope is the only thing stronger then fear” It was an interesting film I personal loved it. I thought it wasn’t over the top you know filled with the same crap most movies normally have. shah It did have unexpected parts. I would recommend this you guys!! if you haven’t see it already GO see it its great.

I also went and saw Marvel’s Avengers Assemble a superhero movie :0 I’m not really keen on superhero’s but still. It was AWESOME!! Loved Captain America played by Chris Evans (Hot ) and Hulk. So theses superhero’s were drawn together to save the Earth by S.H.I.E.L.D because Loki threatens the future of the earth. Who would of thought it I would actually Love a Superhero Movie ahah. Definitely money worth spent :)
Well I’ve had the longest winter breaks EVER! And a very relaxing one, any way I have been having a bit of an creative block due to this long break. I’m just not bother about doing any work -_- In one of those Cant be F**ked moods.
During the Christmas holidays I wanted to invest some money in a Graphic tablet, I’ve been wanting to get one for a long time now. I was talking to a friend about it they suggested that I should go and check out Micro Anvika because they have good prices. My friend also suggested the Wacom Bamboo Pen.(For you art students I asked a few of the technicians at uni and they also recommended this, but its all depending on your budget) Good thing about this is that they just released new ones, I think there wireless. They are £80 however, Micro Anvika in Tottenham Court Road does it for £50 (I think) which is the cheaper the anywhere. and believe me the are the cheapest… The tablet that I want to get without doubt is a Wacom tablet (Wacom is worlds leading brand in graphics tablets). So I paid a visit to Micro Anvika and I did find the Wacom intuos 4 (over £100) but I was told that the Wacom intuos 5 might become out soon and I could be getting it for the same price as the 4th one.(I guess that’s more waiting for me :( hard times) So I’m hoping that it will come out soon.
Now on the mission of getting some work done!! I needed inspiration to get me going, back to drawing, designing, exploring, back in to shape with #Graphic’s. Nothing better then to watch a movie that’s out now, a movie that everyone’s talking about. WAR HORSE!!! Awesomely EPIC!
Well of course its Epic its directed by Steven Allan Spielberg, (who’s films have covered many themes and genres) I went to watch it on Sunday and it was the BEST THE DECISION EVER! The story was just moving and at times funny (yes funny). What I like about this movie is that its wasn’t to predictable, you know. I like the fact that they showed Joey (the horse) before in Devon and during the WW1 in Germany. How the Horses status changes. “The First World War is the backdrop for this tale of bravery, loyalty, and the extraordinary bond between a young recruit and his horse.”
In my last blog post I let you guys know that I’m not really crazy over movies which is shameful but that’s all about to change now I’ve started to watch more movie and understand the meaning behind them as well. So yesterday I went to watch My week with Marilyn.
The film explains how Colin Clark (prestigious English family) tries and finds a job in the film industry so he crashes the door of Laurence Oliver’s production company and telling Mr Oliver that he will wait till there is a job for him, refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer. He then finally gets the chance to prove himself and lands himself a job in the industry. Colin’s (Eddie Redmayne) first gig is serving as third assistant director. He works for the British set of The Prince and the Showgirl (1957). Marilyn Monroe plays the role of the showgirl. Colin Clark falls in love with Marilyn and shows her around London, he comforts her for a week while Marilyn’s husband is away. (So in the 20th century women became a lot more independent, the gain a lot more freedom by working and earning money for them selves. During this time Films also became a big obsession. BOOM! Ohh how I miss my history lessons back in school, yes! I did history :) In the 20th century Marilyn became one of the biggest sex symbol around.)
I got the impressions that Marilyn was a women that had to put on acts for the people that worshiped her only for her image of Marilyn (the sex symbol) rather then for who she was. I felt that even though she was this major star she still didn’t have it all, still lonely. It portrayed her in such away that it look like fame was coursing damage to her mentally and physically, the film shows her taking drugs to help her get thought things. Michelle Williams played Marilyn really.
Overall I thought that My week with Marilyn was a good film but I wish it was in Marilyn’s perspective instead Clark’s perspective, because every story has its sides and now I am left with questions, what Marilyn’s story would have been like. How she really felt and what did her fame really mean to her.
That enough! about movies now. Yaaaay! I have officially finished my first semester. What a semester. Its been I have really enjoyed it and have learn a lot. Time for me to relax and have some fun in the Christmas holidays. :)
I have a secret to share and its thought to some that it’s a little shameful, being an Art and an ex media student. I guess someone had to break the rules and it had to be me -_- ok here I go… I don’t really watch movies O_O I’ve seen the classic’s and some general films (awesome ones) but that’s about it. I spent all of last year trying to understand what’s the big deal, and a friend of mine actually set me task to try break the ice, for me to start watching more films. So my awesome friend gave me a set of movies to watch and I gave feedback on what I thought about the film it was really to see if I understood the meaning behind the film. There’s no point you being a movie freak if you don’t understand the message behind the movie is there now? I could be wrong… It did actually help. I have started to gradually pick up movies and watch them. I’m starting to become part of the crowd.
So, there’s a lot of awesome film out this winter and one in particular that people have been going on about… IMMORTALS !!
Sunday morning, the winter sun was out and I decided to actually listen for once to a friend and went to see what the big deal was about this film. OOOH MY GOD!! :D AMAZING!. I loved the story. The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion searching to get his hands on the Epirus Bow a weapon that can destroy humanity. The attention to detail was really awesome but I do however feel like something was missing (which would have made the film even more epic. I bet most of you who have seen the film would probably disagree) My favorite characters were without a doubt are Thesus (Henry Cavill) a peasant who becomes a demi-god, the film’s leading character and Athena (Isabel Lucas) Goddess of Warfare, Battle Strategies, Wisdom and Justice (the only female god) If you haven’t seen it what are you waiting WAITING for!
Besides watching Immortals I also read a book called Fallen by Lauren Kate… A forbidden love story, dark and romantic. It seriously is an amazing book I would tell you what happens but I don’t want to ruin it for you if you haven’t read it. I would strongly recommend this book.

So as you might have noticed the *happy dance*, yes I get excited over things a lot. its who I am. Any ways… a friend just told me to watch this trail because it reminded them of my happy dance. I haven’t seen this film but I sure will be going to buy the dvd so i can watch and learn some moves. Mine are getting a bit old hehehe.
